Why Windows Vista and Office 2007 are so Expensive

Almost two months ago Microsoft announced the prices for Windows Vista and Office 2007 (see Update: Windows Vista Prices). Perhaps the new packaging (scroll down for more) has something to do with the higher prices? Here are few other blog sites comments: From CyberNet News: “Somehow The Vista Team Blog came up with a very unique way of making it sound like the packaging alone is worth hundreds of dollars. Shall we see how many words you can use describe a package: “Designed to be user-friendly, the new packaging is a small, hard, plastic container that’s designed to protect the…

Colorful Tabs & Firefox 2

A long time ago I talked about the Colorful Tabs extension. One thing I noticed when I went to Bon Echo (Firefox 2) it was one of those extensions that did not work. Further, after forcing it to work with the Nightly Tester Tools, I discovered while it did work, it broke some functionality of Firefox. Once installed, you get colorful tabs, but no close buttons. I reviewed the extension author’s site but it has not been updated since June and have a feeling it won’t be anytime soon. However, on the extension page though, there was note from someone…

As If WGA Wasn’t Enough!

Sometimes I wonder what the folks at Microsoft do all day. I am beginning to think they sit around and come up with new ways to piss off what few customers they have left. I am not a fan (as if anyone is) of Microsoft’s Windows Genuine Advantage validating software. So much so I have removed it from my machine and refuse to install, even if means I cain’t get IE7 or any of the new Microsoft applications. Fx 2.0: Removing The Search ‘Go’ Button

Firefox 3 Users: Fx 3.0: Removing The Search ‘Go’ Button Cookiemonster asked in the Removing ‘Go’ Button post how to remove the search button (magnifying glass) from the search bar. I didn’t understand that question as I didn’t have a magnifying glass. Then tonight a member on Go Firefox! asked me the same question. What I didn’t realize was the tip I posted for removing the ‘Go’ Button was the about:config tweak. However, the way I removed the ‘Go’ Button was via an entry in my userChrome.css file. While I was looking more into this matter I got an e-mail…
