Mozilla released a security update to all versions of Firefox 10 on February 16, 2012. The Firefox 10.0.2 security release addresses a bug in the lipng reference library which could cause an integer overflow or truncation. This in turn could be exploited and could result in execution of arbitrary code on a victim’s system when viewing a specially crafted PNG image in an affected browser. More info here. Users can update via Help > About Firefox or manually update and install from getfirefox.com

I had seen in a couple places that they were scheduled for release on January 31st. I had not seen much about this most of the day and I just happened to be lurking around the Builds forums during a break in my Networking Class tonight when I saw they had been released. I will be having more information about these builds tomorrow and some other…

Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) sometimes called Firefox for Enterprise Users is about to become a reality. Firefox ESR was originally purposed to address challenges that Firefox Enterprise users were having with keeping up with the Rapid Release Process implemented back in Mid 2011. Firefox 10 ESR will be the update for Firefox 3.6 (which will see its last update on April 24th, 2012). In theory this is planned for release on January 31st, but we are not yet sure how this is going to be implemented. More info to come over the next few days.
