Mozilla has big plans for the Firefox OS in 2014. However, I am not sure if these plans include the US as we saw with the Firefox OS Phones which were released in Europe in 2013. Mozilla has had the Firefox OS on smartphones for a while now. Next up is tablets. Mozilla’s own Asa Dotzier, director of Firefox OS, has now provided the hardware specs of the Foxconn-made reference Firefox OS tablet. It’s very similar to the Infocus nFocus New Tab F1, which sells for around $400 USD. Firefox 27 was originally scheduled for release on Tuesday, January 21st, 2014. However, due to Mozilla shutting down their operations until January 6th, they have opted to push the release back two weeks to ensure the build quality is not sacrificed. Earlier this year Mozilla announced it would release Firefox OS phones in the US sometime next year.
