In the beginning of November after being in the same location for over 7-years I moved to a different part of the community. I am further east and north now with a view to the south and west from my balcony. Here a couple photos of this evening’s sunset.

On Tuesday, October 5 the Phoenix area got hit with a monster of storm, which included hail. The title is bit of play-on-words and I got the idea for the title earlier today when I heard a radio commercial for Courtesy Chevrolet. They are currently having a ‘Hail of Sale’ with price reductions on all the vehicles damaged by this week’s hail storm. Hail storms are fairly rare out here. In the 17-years I’ve lived in Arizona I’ve experienced 3 hail storms. Hail on Balcony It seems as if this storm was worse than the ones we had in January….
Over the past couple years I have had several online photo albums, some free and some paid. I have now consolidated all them into a new online photo album at gallery.elguru.me using the application is Zen Photo. The application is free, but does require a web server/hosting account which supports PHP and MySQL. The initial installation was a bit of challenge even with my knowledge of setting up applications it did take a little work getting my all PHP settings adjusted. I was also a little taken aback that I had to manually update the configuration file with my database…
I have had this Aloe for nearly 10-years now. I believe this is the third pot it has been in as has outgrown the others. Last weekend I cleared out at least a dozen ‘off springs’, transplanting them into multiple pots. Over the past few years I have given a couple of these ‘off springs’ to my folks to help fill-in their backyard. The nice thing about the Aloe being a desert plant is it really doesn’t need much water and will grow like a weed. While they may turn a light brown/beige color, they will survive for quite a…
A Photo Montage of the 17 photos from the January 21, 2010 Winter Storm. The first 5 were taken on January 21st and the remaining 17 including the three along Arizona Ave were taken on January 23rd. https://photos.elguru.me/MontageBrowser.aspx?montage=15991
Friday crews were out mainly just to clear the trees from blocking the parking lot and pathways. Stumps/root balls and tree parts still piled throughout the parking lot. This tree was southeast of my building and in a lot more open area. I am not sure when this tree broke but I am thinking this was not a the same time as the others. This one was falling the opposite direction of the others based on the exposed roots on he left side.
For most of the week Arizona has been seeing a lot of rain and wind. Nothing too bad and the rain was much welcomed. From the start of the week though the weather forecasters had been warning us that the final system to move in on Thursday was going to be a big one, with lots of rain and wind. For the most part it was calm on Thursday, some periods of heavy rain but nothing too bad. However, late Thursday afternoon the wind picked up, peak gusts in my area were recorded at around 43 MPH at Hendrix Jr…
Some picture from Christmas. Click on pictures for larger size. Winter Wonderland. This keeps growing every year, I’ll either find something new at the local thrift stores or given something to add to the display My (early) Christmas Present to myself, an Acer 24″ Widescreen Monitor.
Took these photos last night. Click the photos below to see the full-size (3072×1728) I do love the zoom feature on this camera. Odd, I don’t recall being able to see those palm trees from my front door. May be they are more noticeable since being trimmed and cleaned.
These photos were taken from my home in Chandler, AZ. Click on the photos below to view full-size version in a new window. A Panoramic Sunset 3 Palm Trees | Close Up 3 Palm Trees
