On June 15, 2012 Mozilla released an update for Thunderbird 13. The new update, Thunderbird 13.0.1 addresses some bugs with saving POP emails as txt, some POP issues and partner related issues. Existing Thunderbird 13 users can update via Help > About Thunderbird or can manually download and install Thunderbird 13.0.1 via getthunderbird.com site.
Prior to the release of Thunderbird 13, the Dropbox feature which allowed users to attach large files from The Cloud (after uploading through Dropbox) had been removed [Bug 754993]. I recall early on there were some security concerns about this feature from business users. They had wanted the ability to disable this feature so that proprietary information couldn’t accidentally be placed on The Cloud. Now, it is being restored, as an add-on with a target milestone of Thunderbird 16 (due for release around October 9, 2012) [Bug 763471].

Mozilla Messaging competed the merge for Thunderbird 13 Beta on April 26th and Thunderbird 14 Earlybird on April 27th. Existing Earlybird and Beta users can update (within the same build) to the newest version by going to Help > About Thunderbird (or Earlybird). Users wanting to move from the Earlybird to Beta, Beta to Earlybird or do not currently have a version of Thunderbird Earlybird or Beta installed will need to manually update via The Future of Thunderbird site. Mozilla Messaging has released the next version of Thunderbird on April 24th, 2012. For information about what’s new and fixes in Thunderbird 12, see the release notes. A warning to Thunderbird 3.1.x users the last release is coming on April 24 when the 3.1.x branch will finally be retired. This comes nearly a year after Thunderbird 5 was released last spring and is almost twice as long as Mozilla normally continues to provide support of older versions after a major release. Further starting with Thunderbird 13 on June 5, 2012, minimum requirement for Windows will change from Windows 2000 to Windows XP SP2.
