Having one of those mornings…was just trying to do some simple updates on the desktop system and opened a can of worms. The newest version of Flash seems to be crashing in Chrome nonstop, but I am hoping a reboot might fix that issue. Did get the JAVA plugins on this machine updated. On this machine I run Thunderbird Beta as my default Thunderbird build, and it updated to Thunderbird 16 Beta when I checked for updates. During the update process I was warned that earlyLight was not compatible and I tried to check for updates, but none were found….
Thunderbird 15 has been released and with that is an update to Lightning to the new 1.7 version which was released a couple days ago. I restarted Thunderbird after the updates and while I had my tasks, I had no calendars. I looked at the add-ons manager and saw I was running Provider for Google Calendar version 0.13 which is the most current release version. I checked under developmental versions and found a link to download the 0.16pre version. Installed this version, restarted and I had my Google Calendars back in Thunderbird. I am not sure if it is the…

Thunderbird 15 is coming out this Tuesday, August 21st and there are a couple User Interface (UI) changes as part of the new Australis UI. The tabs have been redesigned to look like well tabs (similar to what you see in Google Chrome). There has been some other small refinements in appearance of the UI as well. Also, when you are customizing your toolbars, there is no longer an option for ‘small icons’. Note: The ‘small icons’ change currently only affects Windows builds. Linux builds still had the ‘small icons’ option (have not heard about Mac users). Interestingly though, looking on my Windows 7…
Tired of having to update Lightning every six-weeks (especially those of us who are using the Beta and/or Earlybird/Aurora builds of Thunderbird) when the channel merge hits? EarlyLight is the solution. EarlyLight is developed by rkent and is an unofficial build of Lightning that supports both Beta and Earlybird/Aurora builds of Thunderbird as well as the current release version on all operating systems. No more having to download a different version of Lightning for each Thunderbird channel. Note: EarlyLight currently does NOT support Daily Thunderbird Builds. Before you install EarlyLight, a couple things to keep in mind: If you are using Google Calendar(s)…

After a little over a week delay, the merge for Thunderbird 15 on to the Earlybird channel is completed. However, at this time the update channel has not been reactivated. If you want to move to Thunderbird 15 Earlybird you can do so by manually downloading and installing Earlybird. Users can keep checking for an update via Help > About Earlybird. Warning: Lightning Users! There are currently no builds available for Windows or Mac OSX on either the Earlybird or Daily builds. Keep checking the MDN Calendar Versions site to check for updates.
