If you have been trying to import your emails from MS Eudora or Outlook with the current Thunderbird 38.x branch you likely have run into problems. According to Bug 1176748, this functionality was disabled as it broke the Thunderbird 38 branch. There is however, a simple fix and that is to temporarily install Thunderbird 31.8.0 (or Thunderbird 17.8.0), import then update to the current Thunderbird 38.x branch. One catch though, this only works for Outlook. Mozilla released an update for the Thunderbird 24.x branch on February 4th, 2014. Thunderbird 24.3.0 addressed these issues: Security fixes can be found here Improved handling of reply-to (bug 933555) Depending on update settings, users should automatically be prompted to update to Thunderbird 24.3.0 or may do so manually via Help > About Thunderbird or downloading and installing via the getthunderbird.com site. Due to the changes in the development plans for Thunderbird announced last year, Mozilla has changed the numbering scheme of future Thunderbird releases. Most of us were expecting to see Thunderbird 18 (built off of Gecko 18) released on January 8th, but instead were updated to 17.0.2 version.
