Starting with Thunderbird 9.0 Beta 3 (released November 25, 2011) hardware acceleration is now turned off by default. While the premise was good to allow Thunderbird 5.0 and newer to utilize video hardware acceleration, for many user it caused issues including blurry fonts. As mentioned today on our Firefox Blog, support for Firefox 3.6 will be likely ending in late April 2012. However, the Enterprise/Thunderbird/ExtendedSupport has not been refined yet. Bug 701875 was created a few days ago to address a major issue with Windows and Gecko 2.0 (Firefox 4.0+/Thunderbird 5.0+). omni.jar is a core file for Gecko 2.0 versions of Firefox and Thunderbird. Stylish 1.2.1 which will work with Thunderbird (and Firefox) 6.0 is currently stuck in the AMO approval queue, so users who are updating to Thunderbird 6 are finding that Stylish 1.2 is being disabled. User can install Stylish 1.2.1 via this link, just click the yellow Download Now’ button and click through the warning. Looks like they submitted the updated on August 15th, the day before Thunderbird 6 was released. Likely will be approved by the end of the week and those have add-on update checking enabled will see it as an update when they restart Thunderbird.
