Mozilla has announced Thunderbird will follow the Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) plan. The current plan is the first Firefox ESR will be based off of the upcoming Firefox 10 release coming at the end of this month. With that release comes a 12-week ‘grace-period’ for continued support of the Firefox 3.6 release which would put the final release on April 24th, 2012. Mozilla has completed the merge for Thunderbird 9 on the Beta release channel on November 16, 2011. Bug 701875 was created a few days ago to address a major issue with Windows and Gecko 2.0 (Firefox 4.0+/Thunderbird 5.0+). omni.jar is a core file for Gecko 2.0 versions of Firefox and Thunderbird. From MDN: Firefox 4 and Thunderbird 3.3 achieve performance improvements by moving many of their internal parts from being standalone files or sets of JAR files into just one JAR file called omni.jar; this reduces the amount of I/O needed to load the application. Add-on Compatibility Reporter Update

Add-on Compatibility Reporter has been updated to version 0.9.3 earlier today. This update addressees issues with the Add-on compatibility checking not being disabled when updating to Firefox 10 Aurora and/or Thunderbird 10 Earlybird builds. Simply go into the Aurora or Earlybird Add-ons manager, right-click on Add-on Comparability Reporter and select Find Updates. You can also update via AMO.
