After some minor delays, Mozilla has pushed out Thunderbird 7.0 on the Beta Channel on August 26th. Also on August 17th, Thunderbird 8.0 was pushed out the Earlybird Channel and Thunderbird 9.0 out to the Daily Channel. You can move to the next version within your channel (Thunderbird 8 Daily to Thunderbird 9 Daily) by going to Help > About Thunderbird (or Earlybird or Daily). I was alerted over in my Email Mafia Forum, that in Thunderbird 5.0 when you are adding an image it will not allow you to paste a link in the link filed on the link tab. After some testing I did confirm that you can not paste via right-click. However, you can click in to the field and do CTRL+V or SHIFT+INSERT to paste. What is really odd about this though, is the functionality works fine in Thunderbird 3.1.11 as well as Thunderbird 7.0a2 (Earlybird) and 8.0a1 (Daily). There is talk of ending Windows 2000 support starting with Thunderbird 8. This is in part due to move to MSVC (Microsoft Visual C++) 2010 based compiler which requires Windows XP SP2 or newer OS. Thunderbird 8 is now on the Daily Branch is scheduled for release on November 8, 2011.
