My Fx Splash Screen & FastStone Capture

Once I was able to get the Splash options window working I made a visit to Mr Tech’s Firefox Splash Screens site and found a Splash Screen I liked. I also took a couple minutes (literally) to get and install the free FastStone Capture software thanks to an excellent recommendation from Ryan at CyberNet News. The quality is outstanding compared to the conventional Windows screen capture plus it allows me to save the files in PNG format. There are lot of other features with FastStone I have yet to try out.

So with the FastStone Capture software I was able to get a good quality screenshot of my new Firefox splash screen:

Hello! I’m at work surfing around your blog from my new iphone! Just wanted to say I love reading your blog and look forward to all your posts! Keep up the outstanding work!

  8. Have you ever considered publishing an ebook or guest authoring on other blogs? I have a blog based on the same information you discuss and would really like to have you share some stories/information. I know my audience would appreciate your work. If you’re even remotely interested, feel free to shoot me an e-mail.

  9. Nice work… For what it’s worth, though, I believe a “splash screen” and an “About screen” are two different things. As far as I know, a splash screen appears when you run the app.

When I saw your topic, I was hopeful it might tell me how to actually enable a splash screen in Firefox. I realize lots of people don’t like splash screens—but here on my netbook, where FF and my various add-ons take 10 or 15 seconds to load, it’d be nice to have an (optional) way of seeing that something’s going on.

If anyone knows of a way to do this, please reply here—thanks!
